The Amazing [Addictions Awareness] Races comes to The Pas

On November 16 and 17, 2009, the Amazing Race—Addictions Awareness edition, that is—came to The Pas’ Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute in the Kelsey School Division.  The school’s Healthy Schools Initiatives (H.S.I.) Team held the Amazing Addictions Awareness Race to promote Manitoba Addiction Awareness Week. During this time, the H.S.I Team also ran radio spots to help promote addiction awareness.

Twelve teams of three students each participated over two lunch hours.  The teams decoded clues that led them to tasks that needed to be completed successfully before they could receive their next clue.  After all four tasks were completed, the teams headed back to the pit stop to record their times and to receive a nutritious snack for a job well done.

Advisors for the H.S. I. Team would like to applaud all the staff that helped to make this event a success.  Everyone had fun while learning about life choices.  For more information on the Amazing Addictions Awareness Race, contact Merrilee Hamilton, Counsellor at Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute.
